رسالة القدّيس يعقوب 23-14:2

يا إخوتي: مَا النَّفْعُ، يا إِخْوتِي، إِنْ قَالَ أَحَدٌ إِنَّ لَهُ إِيْمَانًا ولا أَعْمَالَ لَهُ؟ أَلَعَلَّ الإِيْمَانَ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَهُ؟
إِذَا كانَ أَخٌ أَو أُخْتٌ عُرْيَانَيْن، يُعْوِزُهُمَا القُوتُ اليَّومِيّ
ووَاحِدٌ مْنكُم قَالَ لَهُمَا: «إِذْهَبَا بِسَلام، وٱسْتَدْفِئَا وٱشْبَعَا»، وأَنْتُم لَمْ تُعْطُوهُمَا حَاجَاتِ الجَسَد، فَأَيُّ نَفْعٍ في ذلِكَ؟
كذلِكَ الإِيْمَانُ أَيْضًا، إِنْ لَمْ يَقْتَرِنْ بالأَعْمَال، فهوَ مَيْتٌ في ذَاتِهِ
ورُبَّ قَائِلٍ يَقُول: «أَنْتَ لَكَ الإِيْمَان، وأَنا ليَ الأَعْمَال»، فأَقُولُ لَهُ: أَرِنِي إِيْمانَكَ بِدُونِ الأَعْمَال، وأَنَا أُرِيكَ بِالأَعْمَالِ إِيْمَانِي
أَتُؤمِنُ أَنْتَ أَنَّ اللهَ وَاحِد؟ حَسَنًا تَفْعَل! والشَّياطِينُ أَيْضًا تُؤْمِنُ وتَرتَعِد
أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تَعْرِف، أَيُّهَا الإِنْسَانُ البَاطِلُ الرَّأْي، أَنَّ الإِيْمَانَ بِدُونِ الأَعْمالِ عَقِيم؟
أَمَا تَبَرَّرَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبُونَا بِالأَعْمَال، لَمَّا قَرَّبَ إِسْحقَ ٱبْنَهُ على المَذْبَح؟
فأَنْتَ تَرَى أَنَّ الإِيْمَانَ كانَ يُعَاوِنُ أَعْمَالَهُ، وبِالأَعْمَالِ صَار إِيْمَانُهُ كامِلاً
فتَمَّ الكِتَابُ القائِل: «آمَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِالله، فَحُسِبَ لَهُ ذلِكَ بِرًّا»، ودُعِيَ خَلِيلَ الله

Jacques 2:14-23
14 Mes frères, si quelqu’un prétend avoir la foi, sans la mettre en œuvre, à quoi cela sert-il ? Sa foi peut-elle le sauver ?

15 Supposons qu’un frère ou une sœur n’ait pas de quoi s’habiller, ni de quoi manger tous les jours ;

16 si l’un de vous leur dit : « Allez en paix ! Mettez-vous au chaud, et mangez à votre faim ! » sans leur donner le nécessaire pour vivre, à quoi cela sert-il ?

17 Ainsi donc, la foi, si elle n’est pas mise en œuvre, est bel et bien morte.

18 En revanche, on va dire : « Toi, tu as la foi ; moi, j’ai les œuvres. Montre-moi donc ta foi sans les œuvres ; moi, c’est par mes œuvres que je te montrerai la foi.

19 Toi, tu crois qu’il y a un seul Dieu. Fort bien ! Mais les démons, eux aussi, le croient et ils tremblent.

20 Homme superficiel, veux-tu reconnaître que la foi sans les œuvres ne sert à rien ?

21 N’est-ce pas par ses œuvres qu’Abraham notre père est devenu juste, lorsqu’il a présenté son fils Isaac sur l’autel du sacrifice ?

22 Tu vois bien que la foi agissait avec ses œuvres et, par les œuvres, la foi devint parfaite.

23 Ainsi fut accomplie la parole de l’Écriture : Abraham eut foi en Dieu ; aussi, il lui fut accordé d’être juste, et il reçut le nom d’ami de Dieu. »

إِذَا عَالِمٌ بِالتَّوْرَاةِ قَامَ يُجَرِّبُ يَسُوعَ قَائِلاً: «يا مُعَلِّم، مَاذَا أَعْمَلُ لأَرِثَ ٱلحَياةَ الأَبَدِيَّة؟»
فَقَالَ لَهُ: «مَاذَا كُتِبَ في التَّوْرَاة؟ كَيْفَ تَقْرَأ؟»
فَقَالَ: «أَحْبِبِ ٱلرَّبَّ إِلهَكَ مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِكَ، وَكُلِّ نَفْسِكَ، وَكُلِّ قُدْرَتِكَ، وَكُلِّ فِكْرِكَ، وَأَحْبِبْ قَرِيبَكَ كَنَفْسِكَ»
فَقالَ لَهُ يَسُوع: «بِالصَّوابِ أَجَبْتَ. إِفْعَلْ هذَا فَتَحْيَا»
أَمَّا هُوَ فَأَرادَ أَنْ يُبَرِّرَ نَفْسَهُ، فَقَالَ لِيَسُوع: «وَمَنْ هُوَ قَريبِي؟»
فَأَجابَ يَسُوعُ وَقَال: «كانَ رَجُلٌ نَازِلاً مِنْ أُورَشَلِيمَ إِلى أَرِيحَا، فَوَقَعَ في أَيْدِي اللُّصُوص، وَعَرَّوهُ، وَأَوْسَعُوهُ ضَرْبًا، وَمَضَوا وَقَدْ تَرَكُوهُ بَيْنَ حَيٍّ وَمَيْت
وَصَدَفَ أَنَّ كَاهِنًا كَانَ نَازِلاً في تِلْكَ الطَّرِيق، وَرَآهُ، فَمَالَ عَنْهُ وَمَضَى
وَمَرَّ أَيْضًا لاوِيٌّ بِذلِكَ المَكَان، وَرَآهُ، فَمَالَ عَنْهُ وَمَضَى
ولكِنَّ سَامِرِيًّا مُسَافِرًا مَرَّ بِهِ، وَرَآهُ، فَتَحَنَّنَ عَلَيْه
وَدَنَا مِنْهُ، وَضَمَّدَ جِرَاحَهُ، سَاكِبًا عَلَيْها زَيْتًا وَخَمْرًا. ثُمَّ وَضَعَهُ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ، وَذَهَبَ بِهَ إِلى الفُنْدُق، وٱعْتَنَى بِهِ
وفي الغَد، أَخْرَجَ دِينَارَينِ وَأَعْطاهُمَا لِصَاحِبِ الفُنْدُق، وَقَالَ لَهُ: إِعْتَنِ بِهِ، وَمَهْمَا أَنْفَقْتَ فَأَنَا أُوفِيكَ عِنْدَ عَوْدَتي
فَمَا رَأْيُكَ؟ أَيُّ هؤُلاءِ الثَّلاثَةِ كَانَ قَريبَ ذلِكَ الرَّجُلِ الَّذي وَقَعَ في أَيْدِي اللُّصُوص؟»
فَقَالَ: «أَلَّذي صَنَعَ إِلَيْهِ ٱلرَّحْمَة». فَقَالَ لَهُ يَسُوع: «إِذْهَبْ، وٱصْنَعْ أَنْتَ أَيْضًا كَذلِكَ»

Luc 10:25-37
Un docteur de la loi se leva, et dit à Jésus, pour l’éprouver: Maître, que dois-je faire pour hériter la vie éternelle?

Jésus lui dit: Qu’est-il écrit dans la loi? Qu’y lis-tu?
10.27
Il répondit: Tu aimeras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, de tout ton coeur, de toute ton âme, de toute ta force, et de toute ta pensée; et ton prochain comme toi-même.

Tu as bien répondu, lui dit Jésus; fais cela, et tu vivras.

Mais lui, voulant se justifier, dit à Jésus: Et qui est mon prochain?

Jésus reprit la parole, et dit: Un homme descendait de Jérusalem à Jéricho. Il tomba au milieu des brigands, qui le dépouillèrent, le chargèrent de coups, et s’en allèrent, le laissant à demi mort.

Un sacrificateur, qui par hasard descendait par le même chemin, ayant vu cet homme, passa outre.

Un Lévite, qui arriva aussi dans ce lieu, l’ayant vu, passa outre.

Mais un Samaritain, qui voyageait, étant venu là, fut ému de compassion lorsqu’il le vit.

Il s’approcha, et banda ses plaies, en y versant de l’huile et du vin; puis il le mit sur sa propre monture, le conduisit à une hôtellerie, et prit soin de lui.

Le lendemain, il tira deux deniers, les donna à l’hôte, et dit: Aie soin de lui, et ce que tu dépenseras de plus, je te le rendrai à mon retour.

Lequel de ces trois te semble avoir été le prochain de celui qui était tombé au milieu des brigands?

C’est celui qui a exercé la miséricorde envers lui, répondit le docteur de la loi. Et Jésus lui dit: Va, et toi, fais de même.

Luke 10:25-37

And now a lawyer stood up and, to test him, asked, ‘Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’

26 He said to him, ‘What is written in the Law? What is your reading of it?’

27 He replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself.’

28 Jesus said to him, ‘You have answered right, do this and life is yours.’

29 But the man was anxious to justify himself and said to Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbour?’

30 In answer Jesus said, ‘A man was once on his way down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of bandits; they stripped him, beat him and then made off, leaving him half dead.

31 Now a priest happened to be travelling down the same road, but when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

32 In the same way a Levite who came to the place saw him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a Samaritan traveller who came on him was moved with compassion when he saw him.

34 He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. He then lifted him onto his own mount and took him to an inn and looked after him.

35 Next day, he took out two denarii and handed them to the innkeeper and said, “Look after him, and on my way back I will make good any extra expense you have.”

36 Which of these three, do you think, proved himself a neighbour to the man who fell into the bandits’ hands?’

37 He replied, ‘The one who showed pity towards him.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go, and do the same yourself.’
